The second stage of the Andalucía Bike Race 2025 once again tested the riders’ endurance and technical skills with an intense and spectacular route. Covering 26.17 km with 741 meters of positive elevation gain, the day was marked by its explosiveness, blending fast trails, technical descents, and demanding sections that provided plenty of excitement for the peloton.
Granada bids farewell to this edition with a perfect setting, offering cyclists unique views of Sierra Nevada and a varied terrain that demanded the best from each participant. The town of Huétor Vega played a key role with its dynamic XCO circuit, a decisive point of the stage where riders had to showcase their skills before tackling the final descent toward the finish line.
The incredibly high level of competition was evident at the finish, where equality was the defining factor. In the men’s category, victory was once again decided in a tight finish, with the top six pairs battling until the very last meter. Jakob Dorigoni and Gioele De Cosmo of the Torpado Kenda FSA Factory team, who had already won the opening stage, once again demonstrated their power and strategic prowess, securing their second consecutive victory and establishing themselves as the pair to beat this edition. Fabian Rabensteiner and Casey South, from the same team, crossed the line simultaneously, while David Valero and Tiago Ferreira of the BH Coloma Team completed the podium just seconds later. The winners commented at the finish line, “It was a very fast stage; the whole team managed to control the race despite the close competition from Valero and Ferreira, and we were able to push hard in the final stretch to win the stage.”
In the women’s category, history repeated itself with Mónica Calderon and Tessa Kortekaas from ISB Cannondale once again dominating the stage, crossing the finish line first and securing a commanding double victory that keeps them at the top of the standings. Their synergy and consistency were key in handling a fast and technical day where they managed to make the difference once more. “We pushed throughout the entire stage, and that’s what made us win,” they said at the finish. Just seconds behind were Txell Figueras and Claudia Peretti from Cannondale Protour Olympia, who are confirming themselves as strong contenders for the overall title. In third place were Katazina Sosna and Irina Lützelschwab from the Torpado Kenda FSA Factory team.
With Granada behind, the Andalucía Bike Race now heads to Jaén, where the terrain will shift, and conditions will continue to push every team to their limits. The excitement keeps building in an edition where the fight for victory promises to stay open until the very end.
